近年来美国可授予学位的高等教育机构的数量整体下降。尤其是私立营利性学校,其生存与发展面临着越来越严峻的挑战。不少营利性学校纷纷寻求出路,如营利性的卡普兰大学并入著名的公立研究型大学普渡大学。这种模式是否可以成为美国高等教育公私合作的典型与发展趋势?通过对普渡大学成功收购卡普兰大学进行归因分析,并探究其存在的问题,有助于加深对美国高等教育公私合作的理解,进而为我国高职院校的混合所有制改革提供一些启示和借鉴。
Abstract:
The number of degree-awarding higher education institutions in the United States has declined in recent years. Private for-profit universities and colleges face more and more severe challenges for their survival and development. Many of them actively seek for solutions. An example is the acquisition of Kaplan University, a private institution, by Purdue University, a public research university. Can this model become an exemplar and trend of the public-private cooperation in higher education in the United States? This study conducts an attribution analysis of Purdue University's successful acquisition of Kaplan University with an exploration of its existing problems. The findings help to deepen the understanding of public-private partnerships in higher education in the United States and provide implications for the reform of mixed ownership in vocational higher education institutions in China.
