Based on the Graduate Education Development Index(GEDI),this study measures the development level and diachronic changes of doctoral education in each province in China in 2015and 2017from three dimensions:scale,quality and performance.The results show that on the whole,the development level of doctoral education in all provinces in China has increased significantly,but the development speed of each province is significantly characterized by“stock-determined increment”.Moreover,the development of doctoral education has undergone three stages:the“benefit-driven”stage,the“quality-improving”stage and the“constructively-interactive”stage.The structural characteristics of scores in the dimensions of scale,quality,and performance are closely related to the development level of doctoral education in each province.
