中国大学的“通识教育”不是单纯外来的、被给定的概念,而是在教育实践中通过名实互动逐渐明晰而生成的。从语义场的命名分析和中国大学十余年来教育实践两方面着手,交叉印证,可以锚定相近概念的确切内涵,并揭示中国大学的通识教育与文化素质教育、博雅教育之间的决定性差异。通识教育作为中国现代大学教育理念得到更精确刻画后,还要注意在国际对话和翻译中的跨文化不可移植性。

“General education” in Chinese universities is not a purely foreign or given concept, but gradually clarified and generated through the interaction of name and fact in the practice of education. Starting from the analysis of the naming of semantic fields and the practice of education in Chinese universities over ten years, we can verify and confirm the exact connotations of these similar concepts and reveal the decisive differences among general education, Suzhi education, and liberal education. As an educational concept of modern Chinese universities, general education has been described in a more accurate way, but we still need to pay attention to the cross-cultural non-portability in international dialogue and translation.
