国际文凭课程在美国的快速发展引发了争议,这个源于欧洲的国际教育项目被指控是“反美的”和“违宪的”。本文探讨了引发争议的种种原因及其背后的深层逻辑——国际文凭课程鼓励批判性思维、培养世界公民和国际情怀以及倡导多元文化的特质是其遭受反对和抵制的重要原因。人类社会面临众多全球性挑战和危机,亟需一种超越民族与文化的思考方式,以国际文凭课程为代表的国际教育或许能够成为驮着“世界精神”的马背,与地方文化和民族国家教育产生互动,促进其世界维度的发展。
Abstract:
The rapid development of the International Baccalaureate (IB) in the United States has aroused controversy. This international education program originating in Europe has been accused of being “anti-American” and “unconstitutional”. Examining the causes of the controversy and its underlying logic, this paper points out that the encouragement of critical thinking, cultivation of world citizens and international-mindedness, and promotion of multiculturalism of the IB program are the major reasons resulting in opposition and resistance to it. Faced with numerous global challenges, it is urgent to think in a way that transcends nationality and local culture. International education, represented by IB, may become the horseback carrying the “world soul” and interact with local culture and national education, leading to the development of the world dimensions of its education.
